Wireless Load Stick Safety & Instructions
!!! WARNING !!!
The maximum, safe load capacity of each load stick is 3000lbs. DO NOT exceed the stated maximum under any condition.
Longacre recommends the use of red Loctite on both M12 threaded connections of the loadcell to prevent unexpected movement during use. Ensure both M12 hex nuts are torqued to 38 ft. lbs. before every use.
The use of Longacre load sticks will result in large amounts of stored energy within the suspension system of the vehicle. It is critical that both threaded connections to the loadcell are engaged as much as possible for the required eyelet orientation during use. Each of the ACME lead-screws includes a ruler with a red zone indicating the load stick has reached the maximum extended travel. If the red zone of the ruler is partially showing at either end of the load stick, DO NOT extend the load stick any further. The lead screw(s) has reached the usable limit. There is no stop preventing the ACME lead screws from becoming disengaged from the load stick body.
During use, keep clear of loaded suspension components. While turning the load stick, monitor each M12 threaded connection at the loadcell to ensure they remain tight. If at any point during use binding is felt while turning the load stick, unload the suspension completely and check for obstacles or other points of binding in the suspension system travel.
WIRELESS LOADSTICK Pairing (Android or iOS):
-
Note: Multiple mobile devices can be paired with a load stick set. However, only one device can read/operate the system at any given time. If multiple, paired, devices are present, the load stick system will automatically connect to the mobile device that it finds first.
-
Download the Longacre Connect App from the Play or Apple store
-
Begin by powering on the “LF” load stick
-
All load sticks in the set can be turned on for this process, but the connection in Step 2 can be faster with only the LF turned on. The end result is the same in either case.
-
Open the Longacre Connect app, tap OK if a warning or “Demo Mode” pop-up occurs, and then tap the Settings icon
-
Scroll all the way to the bottom and swipe left on the “Enable Demo Mode” slider (turn OFF demo-mode)
-
Scroll back to the top and tap “Pair Device”
-
The tablet will begin searching for available systems
-
Select the MAC address that pops-up
-
If multiple MAC addresses are present that start with “C_:”…etc. then Demo Mode is still enabled
-
If multiple MAC addresses are showing that start with “F_:” then the scales may not be properly bonded to the LF OR multiple scale systems are turned on within range
-
The mobile device should pop-up a banner from the top of the screen (from the OS, not the app) to confirm the device to pair. Select “Pair & Connect”
-
The mobile device should pop-up another banner from the top of the screen (from the OS, not the app) to confirm the device to pair. Select “Pair & Connect” again.
-
The LF load stick should go into “fast blink” mode indicating a bond is waiting. Tap the “Pair” button on the LF load stick to confirm the secure connection.
-
NOTE: the banner that popped up in step 7 may remain visible for several seconds after tapping “Pair & Connect” and/or the “Pair” button on the scale. DO NOT close the app, the pairing banner, or hit “Cancel” during this process. The system is finalizing the connection during this time and interrupting it will require starting over.
-
Once the banner clears, the system should connect to the app and begin displaying the load readings (likely “0” if un-loaded). This is dependent on the device and OS
-
Sometimes it is necessary to close completely out of the app, and re-open again for the system to connect.
-
Once paired, the device will always connect to this set of load sticks. Turn on the LF load stick first, then open the app, and the system will connect in 10-15 seconds.

WIRELESS LOADSTICK Quick Guide:
-
Once the LF load stick is paired (see above process), the load stick will automatically connect to the mobile device/app upon power-up. Do not press the pair button after initial pairing. Do not hold the power and/or pair buttons for any reason unless at the direction of Longacre service.
-
Longacre load sticks come pre-lubricated with PTFE dry lubricant. Longacre recommends regular use of WD-40® Specialist Dry Lube with PTFE to keep the load stick operating freely without bind.
-
Useable lengths:
5-inch “short” load stick – 12.0” minimum & 16.7” maximum length
8-inch “long” load stick – 15.0” minimum & 22.7” maximum length
-
Maximum load – tension or compression – 3000lbs
-
1 full revolution of the load stick body will extend/compress the eye-to-eye dimension by ¼”
-
ACME lead-screw pitch: 8 threads/inch
-
Each of the ACME lead-screws includes a ruler with a red zone indicating the load stick has reached the maximum extended travel. DO NOT extend load stick beyond the point where any portion of the red zone of the ruler is visible at either end!
-
Each ruler included on the ACME lead-screws have measuring marks to aid in how far the load stick has extended. Each mark is separated 1/8”. Always “zero” both ACME lead-screws or ensure that each ACME lead-screw is extended equally before use to keep the engaged lengths for both ACME lead-screws equal.
-
Pavement load stick body hex size: 24mm or 15/16”
-
Dirt load stick body hex size: 24mm or 15/16” and 32mm or 1 1/4”
-
Jam nut(s) hex size: 19mm or ¾”
-
Eyelet heim dimensions: ½” ID X 5/8” wide
-
Loadcell body/eyelet thread pitch M12 x 1.75
-
Battery: 850mAh Li polymer, rechargeable via usb-c port on control housing
-
Charging time: 1-2 hours
-
Note: charging cable must be USB-A to USB-C format. Charging via high-current USB-C to USB-C cables not supported.
-
Load stick is fully operational while charging via USB cable.
-
A combination wrench can be affixed to either end of the load stick body by removing one of the ACME lead-screws for the pavement version. On the dirt version, a wrench can pass over the RH threaded ACME lead-screw. The wrench can be retained using the included black o-ring.
-
Pavement load sticks include clamp collars at the end of each body hex. Handles are included to tighten the clamps to fix the load stick at a desired length. DO NOT tighten the clamps when the lead-screws are not inserted.
